Inter-State trade - Over 91 lakh e-Way Bills generated in 12 days

By TIOL News Service

NEW DELHI, APRIL 15, 2018: EVEN as the States of UP, Kerala, AP, Telangana and Gujarat have swung into action today to implement the Intra-State e-Way Bill system, the CBIC has claimed that over 91 lakh e-way bills were generated in the first 12 days for Inter-State trade.

As per the GSTN, these five States tend to account for over 60% of the Inter-State e-way bills. For smooth roll-out of State e-Way Bill system the CBIC has asked CGST authorities to closely coordinate with the State authorities and guide them in ironing out glitches.

On the IGST refund front, although about Rs 650 Crore refund was sanctioned upto March 31, 2018 in addition to Rs 9600 Crore sanctioned by the same date, there are still hundreds of applications pending. And the two key reasons are invoice mismatch and EGM errors. The CBIC wants its officers to work extra hours to speed up the process of minimising pendency.
