CVC recommends sanction of prosecution against 8 senior officials, including CIT & IAS officer

NEW DELHI, FEB 01, 2013: Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) have advised issuance of sanction for prosecution in respect of 8 officials of various Ministries, Departments & Organisations during December, 2012. This has been stated in the Monthly Performance Report of CVC for the month of December, 2012.

The highlights of the report are as below:- 

(i) Issuance of sanction for prosecution in respect of 08 officials of various Ministries/ Deptts/ Organisations during the month which includes an IAS officer, then Secretary (Industry & Commerce), Govt. of Andhra Pradesh and a Deputy Inspector General of Indo-Tibetan Border Police(ITBP). 

(ii) Prosecution sanction issued by competent authorities in respect of 15 officials of various Ministries/ Departments/Organisations which includes an IAS officer, then Principal Secretary, National Rural Health Mission (Govt. of Uttar Pradesh) and a Commissioner of Income Tax (Central Board of Direct Taxes). 

(iii) 1922 complaints processed (including 158 whistle blower complaints) Investigation/ factual report in 53 complaints sought from the concerned Ministries/ Deptts/Organisations. 

(iv) Initiation of major penalty proceedings advised against 108 officials which include a Deputy Director General from Prasar Bharti, a Scientist(Grade E), Bureau of Indian Standards, Five General Managers from Industrial Development Bank of India(IDBI), the then Commissioner of Income Tax(Central Board of Direct Taxes), a Chief Engineer from Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd., a Superintending Engineer from Border Roads Development Board, a General Manager of Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., a General Manager from South Eastern Coalfields Ltd and an Addl.Director General of Quality Assurance from Department of Defence Production. 

(v) Imposition of penalty advised against 26 officials of various Ministries/ Deptts/ Organisations, which include a Sr. Scientist of Indian Council of Agricultural Research, two General Managers from Manganese Ore India Ltd, a Chief Engineer from Delhi Development Authority and a Chief General Manager and General Manager from the State Trading Corporation of India. 

(vi) On the advice of the Commission, the Competent Authorities imposed major penalties in respect of 34 officials of various Ministries/ Deptts/ Organisations, which include a Scientist(Grade F), Bureau of Indian Standards.. 

(vii) Chief Technical Examiners' Organisation submitted 4 technical examination reports and these examinations resulted in recovery of Rs.4,40,65,865/- during December, 2012.
