RTI gives right to question those in power: PM

By TIOL News Service

NEW DELHI, OCT 17, 2015: THE Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi, yesterday described the "Right To Information" Act as a tool through which the common man has got not just the right to know, but also the right to question those in power. In his remarks at the 10th Annual Convention of the Central Information Commission (CIC), the Prime Minister said that the Union Government's "Digital India" initiative is complimentary to RTI, because putting information online brings transparency, which in turn, builds trust.

The Prime Minister called for an end to the silo-approach in Government. He said administrative processes should be run based on trusting the people, rather than doubting the people. The Prime Minister said RTI has become a tool for good governance. He also described how the Pro Active Governance and Timely Implementation (PRAGATI) platform developed in the PMO has become a vibrant platform for monitoring progress of projects.

Sub: Grievances lodged on PMgov portal

Why the grievances lodged on the Prime Ministers portal are simply disposed off without giving any redressal. This is contrary to what P M says/

Sub: RTI

It is true that all citizen have right to question the performance of the Government. We say that Government by the People,From the people and for the people means that a citizen is the utmost superior in the activities of the Governance. hence those who are taking care of us, ruling on behalf of us we citizens have right to question their way of functioning and also have responsibility to ensure good Governance.
This RTI should not be viewed as an Act but should consider it as a reformative tool. In the days to come one can ensure transparent, pro-active Governance aiming towards welfare of the people of India.
