Govt seeks to resolve visa issues; submits trade facilitation proposal in WTO

NEW DELHI, APRIL 21, 2017: COMMERCE and Industry Minister, Ms. Nirmala Sitharaman, has said that Government will engage constructively with US and other countries to resolve the visa issues. Speaking at the Mind Mine Summit in New Delhi yesterday, she said India has already submitted its proposal on Trade Facilitation in Services in WTO and wants member countries to study the proposal. The Minister said that she does not believe that Globalization is in retreat as we are linked deeply with other economies.

On the currency volatility she said the strength of the rupee is also a reflection of strength of the economy and is one of the factors in growth of exports. Ms. Sitharaman said better infrastructure and removal of bottlenecks are necessary for exports. She said Government is ready to implement new ideas so that young people don't loose out in the global market.
