CBEC sets up Task Force to study career progression scheme for post 2008 batches

By TIOL News Service

NEW DELHI, AUG 04, 2017: WITH the young IRS officers venting their grievances to the CBEC about their career growth graph in the changed indirect tax landscape, the Board has set up a Task Force of eight officers with V K Srivastava as Convenor and Sanjay Mangal as Co-convenor. The Task Force has been mandated to suggest measures for improving career progression and suggest various options, both short term and long term, for engaging the young entrants at various positions in the Government (both within and outside the parent department).

The Terms of Reference for the Task force are:

a) The Task Force will draw a 'Statement of Problem', which will enlist the issues that the large batches are facing and how those issues would adversely impact career progression of officers.

b) The Task Force will brainstorm and identify various options which could be used to mitigate the problems so identified. If needed, the Task Force will suggest systemic improvements, to facilitate career progression of the officers.

c) Finally, the Task Force will draw a plan of action, including short term actions and long term strategies.

The Task Force has been authorised to collect information as may be necessary, from DGHRD, AD.-II Section of CBEC or any other wing of the Department and is required to submit its report within 15 days.
