Jharkhand woos private investments to exploit mineral reserves

RANCHI, OCT 31, 2017: THE Jharkhand Chief Minister, Mr Raghubar Das, here made a strong pitch for investments in his State. Speaking at the Jharkhand Mining Show he said that the mineral reserve of the state provides excellent opportunity for the state to surge ahead and be on the driver’s seat for country’s growth. He said that his government is proactive in marketing outreach to attract foreign players. "My visits to China, Czech Republic and especially Japan have been fruitful, the Chief Minister added.
The abundance of minerals has made the state home to various mineral based industries. That includes Tata Group, Aditya Birla Group, JSPL, Usha Martin, ACC, Lafarge and Large PSUs like Hindustan Copper, Uranium Corporation. These PSUs & corporate houses stand as the testimony for the environment offered by the state for growth and success. I thank them and wish their support in our growth and decisive input in devising a vision and policy for optimum use of our natural resources, he said.
Earlier, the Chief Minister received kudos from Mr Piyush Goyal, Union Minister for Railways and Coal, who described Mr Das’s leadership as fantastic. He is scripting a whole new story for Jharkhand. In my view, Jharkhand will decide what will be look of the country in the years to come. Unless we have a New Jharkhand, we cannot have a new India. I have a strong feeling that by 2022, a New Jharkhand will emerge, Mr Goyal said, adding that under the leadership of Mr Das, Jharkhand has acquired a can-do and will-do spirit.
The Jharkhand Government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Coal India Ltd. The objective of the MoU is to achieve the common goal of providing surplus water from suitable mines for use by habitations located in the command area of CIL subsidiaries – Central Coalfields Ltd (CCL), Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL) and Eastern Coalfields Limited (ECL) in Jharkhand. It is estimated that about 25520 million gallon of water is available in opencast mine voids of CCL, and 31 million gallon per day is the surplus mine discharge available from identified mines of BCCL & ECL.
