SDF meets to promote bamboo based projects in SAARC

THIMPU, NOV 15, 2017: Implementing Agencies of the SAARC Development Fund funded project, Promoting Integrated Bamboo Based Enterprise Development Among SAARC Countries met in Thimphu for their Project Inception Meetings yesterday. During the meeting, the Implementing Agencies were briefed on SDF’s policies and procedures and reporting requirements, and proposed changes to the project documents since the approval of the projects by SDF’s Board of Directors will be discussed.
The Promoting Integrated Bamboo Based Enterprise Development Among SAARC Countries is implemented in Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Nepal and Pakistan.
Total budget if the project is USD 5,121,842.00 (SDF funding USD 4,388,384.00, Co-funding from IAs USD 733,458.00). The project aims to benefit farmers, artisans, micro & small enterprises, designers, traders and exporters by promoting bamboo based enterprises for income generation and employment opportunities.
Dr. Sunil Motiwal, CEO, SDF said, “The creation of sustainable high value economic opportunities from this project will certainly improve the quality of life for farmers, artisans, micro and small enterprises, designers, traders and exporters in the SAARC region.”
