Mumbai to host Global Exhibition on Services in May, 2018

NEW DELHI, DEC 21, 2017: MUMBAI to host the 4th Global Exhibition on Services between May 15.18, 2018. This was announced at the Curtain Raiser of GES held in New Delhi yesterday.

GES is an important platform for the Indian Services industry, especially in view of the growing relevance and importance of the Services sector. It is a great platform for global collaborations and investments,said Smt Rita Teaotia, Secretary-Commerce, at the Curtain Raiser of GES.

GES is organised annually by the Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry, in association with Services Export Promotion Council (SEPC) and Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).

Mr Anup Wadhawan, Additional Secretary, Department of Commerce, said that GES will be held in Mumbai, the financial hub of India, as the new venue.

GES 2018 will have delegations from about 100 countries in various important services sectors such as business and professional services, education services, tourism & travel related services, transport and health related services, media & entertainment services, construction & related engineering services, audio-visual services, recreational, cultural & sporting services and many cross cutting services.

Around 25 Indian States are expected to participate in the event next year. Over 30 seminars on various services sector will be held. The event will also showcase India’s art, cuisine and culture.

Most innovations emerge from services. India stands out from other emerging economies because its growth has been led by the Services sector, said Mr Sudhanshu Pandey, Joint Secretary, Department of Commerce, Ministry of Commerce & Industry.
