Pendency of CIC cases rapidly declining

NEW DELHI, DEC 28, 2017: THE details of the total number of second appeal cases pending for disposal with Central Information Commission during the last three years is as under:-

The number of cases (appeals and complaints) as on 19.12.2017 in the Central Information Commission is 24,734.

The oldest complaints which are six in number were registered in the year 2012.

Central Information Commission adjudicates the second appeals and complaints received in the Commission. The commission decides appeal and complaint cases as per provision of the RTI Act, 2005. In appropriate cases the commission imposes penalty on the Central Public Information Officers (CPIOs).

The penalty imposed by the Commission during 2014-15 and 2015-16 are as under:-
