Financial Year should roll out on Jan 1 rather than on April 1: Sushil Modi

NEW DELHI, JAN 18, 2018: AFTER meeting the Union Finance Minister as part of the pre-Budget consultations, the Bihar Dy Chief Minister, Mr Sushil Modi, told the media that economically backward States like Bihar need more Central Assistance to develop at a faster pace. He also demanded that the Finance Year should roll out on Jan 1 rather than April 1.
He was supported by all the States on the issues of Central sponsored schemes like Sarv Siksha Abhiyan, National Social Assistance Programme, Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojna, National Pension Schemes and tax devolution.
On Agri credit front he said that although the Union Govt has a taget of Rs 10 lakh crore but has allocated only about Rs 38,000 Crore against the State's target of Rs 49000 Crore and it is Rs 70,000 Crore for the next fiscal. He urged Mr Jaitley to make adequate provsion for such assistance in the Union Budget.
