Dip in illegal construction cases in NCT: MoS

NEW DELHI, APRIL 03, 2018: THE MoS for Home Affairs, Mr Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, today in Parliament informed that the role of Delhi Police with regard to illegal construction is limited to informing the civic agencies whenever such illegal construction comes to their notice.

In the National Capital Territory (NCT) of Delhi, 14982, 13219, 12210 and 2444 intimations about the illegal construction was sent by Delhi Police to concerned civic agencies during 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 (upto February 28, 2018) respectively. Out of which, 104, 105, 106 and 19 intimations during 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018 respectively were for the area of Sadar Bazaar Police Station.  Also, on receipt of notice from Municipal Corporations of Delhi (MCD), the local Police took action to stop construction and size construction material.

No nexus was found between the builder mafia with Delhi Police officers during the last 3 years and the current year (upto February 28, 2018).  Details of action taken against Delhi Police personnel on allegations of inaction or allowing illegal construction during the last 3 years and the current year are as under:

The Delhi Police had reported that transfer or posting Delhi Police officials including official in PS Sadar Bazar is being done as per provisions contained in Standing Order No. 289/10.
