GST - CBIC Chairman asks officers to liquidate pendency relating to Budgetary Support Scheme

NEW DELHI, JULY 21, 2018: IN his weekly communication the CBIC Chairman, Mr S Ramesh, has directed Zonal Chief Commissioners to liquidate the pendency relating to the budgetary support scheme. It may be recalled that under the GST regime, eligible manufacturing units under area based exemption scheme are being provided budgetary support for the residual period. This has bestowed the Department with the task of implementation of another arena of trade facilitation. That being so, he has urged field officials to expendite the refund pending with them.

He has also drawn the attention of Customs Commissionerate towards the concept of 'E-Malkhana'. Delhi Customs has introduced this online facility relating to seized goods. This captures data starting from the time of seizure up to their disposal. In his letter the Chairman has also noted that a very unique and relevant course has been organized by NACIN in collaboration with Gujarat Forensic Sciences University from August 16-18, 2018 on digital evidence collection and analysis, forensic investigation as well as crypto-currency related investigation.

Referring to the Inaugural Ceremony of India's assumption as as Vice Chair of the Asia Pacific Region of WCO, he congratulated two of the Commissioners for their pioneering works. Mr Suvir Misra, ADG Systems, Mumbai, and Mr Sunil Kumar Sinha, Commissioner, Delhi Customs both had the international participants spell bound with their respective presentations on Applications of Blockchain technology in Customs Clearance and on Risk Management in Postal clearance.
