NEW DELHI, AUG 19, 2018: INDIA has officially joined the TIR Convention, activating regional connectivity on international trade corridor. FICCI has been appointed as the National Guaranteeing Association. The CBIC Chairman observes that the implementation of TIR would advance India's global trade prospects by creating a non-intrusive cross-border eco-system for multi-modal transport of goods.
In his weekly communication the Chairman has noted that the Chennai Customs has unveiled a mural showcasing the dedication of the Customs in protecting the economic frontiers of the country. The mural is about 64 feet tall and 20 feet wide.
The Chairman has thanked the CBIC's sister Board CBDT for transferring 12 acres of its prime land in Jodhpur. This is to house a massive office-cum-residential complex. In a step towards digitalisation and accountability, the Delhi Customs has installed the biometric ensemble turnstile gate at its Appraising Hall and the Chairman has congratulated the officers for the trend-setting initiative.
