GSTR-3B - Govt finally extends due date till October 25

NEW DELHI, OCT 21, 2018: STRANGE is the way the GST compliance requirements are being handled by the North Block. Even the GSTN's working is yet to rise up to the level of taxpayers' satisfaction. Yesterday was the deadline for the GSTR-3B and it was more important than such due dates in the previous months because it was also the last date for taking ITC for the previous Financial Year. This finally resulted in back-breaking load on the portal and the GSTN Server did what was an easy guess - it simply caved in.
This created panic among the taxpayers and the dogma among the GST top leadership paved the way for short-duration sensibilities and that is how the due date for the month of September has been extended to October 25. A formal notification is expected to be issued soon.
Meanwhile, the Bangalore CGST Zone's unique trade-friendly drive - Kar Sampark Abhiyan - has earned appreciation from the North Block. All officers in the field formations have been encouraged to engage with the assessees and collect grass-root level inputs. Such inputs have turned out to be precious for fine-tuning the functioning of the tax administration.
