By TIOL News Service

NEW DELHI, JUNE 22, 2019: THE GST Council yesterday held its 35th Meeting here, wherein it recommended rate changes in respect of certain goods and services. Considering the wide presence of electric vehicles in Indian roads and their rising popularity, the Council was deliberating upon concessions on electric vehicle, charger & hiring of electric vehicles. However, the Council referred the issue for examination by the Fitment Committee and concluded that the issue be raised in the next meeting of the Council.

In respect of Solar Power Generating Systems and Wind Turbines, the Council directed that the issue related to valuation of goods and services in a solar power generating system and wind turbine be placed before next Fitment Committee. The recommendations of the Fitment Committee would be placed before the next GST Council meeting.

Lastly, in respect of lottery, the Group Of Ministers on Lottery submitted their report on the subject. After deliberations on the various issues on rate of lottery, the Council recommended that certain issues relating to taxation (rates and destination principle) would require legal opinion of the Attorney General.
