Contractual employment in Govt - DoP&T issues Draft OM for uniformity
By TIOL News Service
NEW DELHI, AUG 17, 2020: ONE of the notable features of NAMO Administration is to appoint retiring or retired bureaucrats as consultant. CBDT Chairman and a Member are prominent beneficiaries of such extension culture being rooted in the recent years. Efforts are on even in the CBIC to profit from the extant culture.
However, what is equally noteworthy is the conspicuous absence of uniform guidelines about their remuneration and other allowances. In this regard, the DoP&T has issued a Draft OM which proposes that in case of contractual appointment beyond 60, the instructions on pay fixation on re-employment will not directly apply. The proposal is to fix remuneration after deducting the basic pension from th salary drawn at the time of retirement. In similar fashion, other allowances like HRA, transport, leave of asence and other are proposed.
