Ministry of Steel, ISA organising webinar on steel-intensive construction

NEW DELHI, JAN 14, 2021: THE Ministry of Steel in association with the Indian Steel Association (ISA) is organising a webinar focused on new opportunities for steel in construction and infrastructure, with Union Minister of Steel Mr Dharmendra Pradhan as chief guest and Minister of State for Steel Mr Faggan Singh Kulaste as the guest of honour.
"The Indian steel industry has shown tremendous resilience in recent times. A rapid growth in production has resulted in India becoming the second largest producer of crude steel.
The steel sector has now entered a new phase of development and is poised to become more vibrant, competitive and sustainable," said Mr Pradhan, according to an official release today.
The webinar, second in the ministry's series on steel, is titled ‘New Opportunities for Steel in Construction and Infrastructure' and will explore fresh perspectives of steel's usage.
Mr Kulaste in his message said, "About 65-67% of Steel is consumed by construction and infrastructure. It is, therefore, important that new opportunities for steel usage are identified."
The government has introduced the Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme in various sectors including steel and the primary focus has been placed on special steels. Prominent industry leaders from steel, construction and infrastructure sector are expected to participate in the webinar.
