Logistics Policy will enhance ease of doing business: Goyal

NEW DELHI, JAN 20, 2021: MINISTER of Commerce and Industry Mr Piyush Goyal on Tuesday said that the National Logistics Policy, which is under consultation, is trying to integrate various elements of the sector to promote ease of doing business in the country.
The policy, along with the National Logistics Council and State Logistics Coordination Committee, will work as a template for better coordination and integrated development for logistics centre, he said addressing the first-ever National Conference of States on Logistics.
"The logistics team in the Ministry of Commerce and Industry is trying to integrate various means of transport, documentation and stakeholders through technology platforms, into a much-simplified way of working, which will enhance the ease of doing business," according to an official release.
The team is working in a manner to address all the problems of the sector in a holistic manner, Mr Goyal said, praising their cooperative spirit at the Centre and state-level.
"We are working to bring the entire ecosystem through Piyush technology platforms into a much-simplified way of working," he said.
Describing it as the lifeline of the nation's economy and industry, Mr Goyal said the logistics ecosystem was worth USD 200 billion. Citing studies, he said that about 13-14% cost of a product is logistics they aim to bring it down to 8%.
