India adds over 15,000 new cases as vaccination drive continues

NEW DELHI, JAN 21, 2021: INDIA'S COVID-19 caseload reached 1,06,10,883 with the addition of 15,223 cases in the last 24 hours, while fatalities reached 1,52,869 with 151 new deaths, the Health Ministry said today.
The recoveries surged to 1,02,65,706 or 96.75 per cent of the total caseload with 19,965 new cured cases recorded. Meanwhile, the fatalities stood at 1.44 per cent of the total confirmed infections.
India's share of global active coronavirus cases declined to 0.76 per cent as it remained below the 2 lakh-mark at 1,92,308.
Since India granted emergency use authorisation for two COVID-19 vaccines, Covishield and Covaxin, over 8 lakh health care workers received the jab. In the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry figures said 1,31,649 people were inoculated across 2,398 sessions.
