India reports 13,203 fresh COVID-19 cases, 131 deaths

NEW DELHI, JAN 25, 2021: INDIA reported 13,203 new coronavirus cases and 13,298 recoveries in the past 24 hours, taking the active caseload to 1,84,182, the Health Ministry said today.
"India steadily sustains its trajectory of very low active cases," it said, as the share of active cases in the cumulative figures shrank to 1.73 per cent.
With the addition of the fresh cases, majority from Kerala (6,036) and Maharashtra (2,752), India's COVD-19 tally rose to 1,06,67,736.
On the other hand, with 13,298 recoveries registered in the past day, the overall recovery count has risen to 1,03,30,084, with Kerala and Maharashtra reporting the maximum number of single-day recoveries with 5,283 and 3,694, respectively.
The fatality rate was the lowest in eight months with 131 new deaths in the past 24 hours, official data showed. The death toll has reached 1,53,470 nationwide.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said 19,23,37,117 tests have been conducted up to January 24, with 5,70,246 samples checked in the past day.
India has administered 16,15,504 coronavirus vaccine doses as of today morning, in the nationwide immunisation drive which started on January 16.
In the span of 24 hours, over 33,303 people were vaccinated across 694 sessions, the ministry said.
