AYUSH Ministry signs pact for collaborative research with 25 countries

NEW DELHI, FEB 03, 2021: THE Ministry of AYUSH has signed over 20 country-level agreements for cooperation in the field of traditional medicine and homeopathy, the ministry said in the Rajya Sabha on Tuesday.
Minister of State of AYUSH Mr Kiren Rijiju said they had signed 25 country-to-country Memorandums of Understandings (MoUs) with Nepal, Bangladesh, Hungary, Trinidad and Tobago, Malaysia, World Health Organisation (WHO) Geneva, Mauritius, Mongolia, Turkmenistan, Myanmar, Germany (Joint declaration), Iran, Sao Tome and Principe, Equatorial Guinea, Cuba, Colombia, Japan (MoC), Bolivia, Gambia, Republic of Guinea, China, St. Vincent and The Grenadines, Suriname, Brazil and Zimbabwe.
A further 23 MoUs have been signed with various foreign universities for undertaking collaborative research in Germany, United Kingdom, Canada, WHO Geneva, United States, Argentina, Israel, Brazil, Australia, Austria Tajikistan and Ecuador.
The ministry has entered 13 pacts for up of AYUSH (Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homeopathy) academic chairs with foreign institutions in countries like Mauritius, Russia, Argentina, Malaysia, Trinidad and Tobago, Bangladesh and Latvia.
Mr Rijiju said they are implementing a Centrally sponsored scheme for providing financial assistance to States and Union Territories (UTs) for developing and promoting AYUSH systems.
Under the National AYUSH Mission (NAM), the ministry has provided grant-in-aid of Rs. 494.91 crore to the States and UTs for the creation of health facilities and integrated AYUSH hospitals.
