India reports 11,713 new COVID-19 cases, active cases at 8-month low

NEW DELHI, FEB 06, 2021: INDIA'S tally of coronavirus cases climbed to 1,08,14,304, as it recorded 11,713 daily new cases, while the death toll climbed to 1,54,918 with 95 fatalities in the past 24 hours, said the Ministry of Health on Saturday.
The national recovery rate stands at 97.19 per cent as 1,05,10,796 people have recuperated, 14,488 in the past day itself.
"India's total Active Caseload continues to follow a consistent downward slope. It has dropped to less than 1.5 lakh (1,48,590) today and is the lowest in 8 months," said the ministry, while the fatality rate stands at 1.43 per cent.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a cumulative total of 20,06,72,589 samples have been tested up to Friday, with 7,40,794 samples tested in the past day.
With 4,57,404 people receiving their COVID-19 vaccinations on Friday, India has delivered the first dose to over 54 lakh beneficiaries.
