India records 11,067 new COVID-19 cases, death toll remains below 100

NEW DELHI, FEB 10, 2021: INDIA reported 11,067 new COVID-19 cases while 13,087 people have been discharged, taking the national figures to 1,08,58,371 confirmed cases and 1,05,61,608 recoveries, said the Ministry of Health on Wednesday.

At 94, fresh fatalities remained below 100 for the fifth consecutive day, with the maximum deaths reported from Maharashtra (35) and Kerala (19). The country's death toll stands at 1,55,252.

Meanwhile, India's recovery rate is at 97.27 per cent, while the fatality rate of 1.43 per cent is amongst the lowest in the world with the global average at 2.18 per cent.

The developments come along with the decline in active caseload which are at 1,41,511 currently, comprising 1.3 per cent of the total cases, said the ministry.

Since the grant of emergency use authorisation for the COVID-19 vaccines, India has inoculated 66,11,561 beneficiaries, with 3.5 lakh receiving their shots in the past day.

The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said 7,36,903 samples were tested for coronavirus in the past day and a total of 20.33 lakh samples have been tested so far.
