India registers 12,923 new COVID-19 cases, fastest to vaccinate over 70Lac

NEW DELHI, FEB 11, 2021: INDIA has recorded 12,923 daily new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, along with 11,764 recoveries and 108 fatalities, said the Health Ministry on Thursday.
The country's overall tallies rose to 1,08,71,294 confirmed coronavirus cases with 1,55,360 deaths and 1,05,73,372 recoveries.
In a slight departure from recent trend, the country's new active cases witnessed a spike as they rose marginally by 1,051 to land at 1,42,562 or 1.30 per cent of the total confirmed cases.
The country's recovery rate stands at 97.27 per cent while the case fatality rate is 1.43 per cent of the total cases.
The Ministry of Health said that India has become the fastest in the world to vaccinate 70 lakh beneficiaries, achieving the feat within 26 days of launching the nationwide campaign on January 16.
"As on February 11, 2021, till 8 A.M., 70,17,114 beneficiaries have received the vaccination under the countrywide COVID-19 vaccination exercise," it added. The cumulative vaccination coverage includes over 57 lakh healthcare workers and more than 13 lakh frontline workers.
In the past day, over 4.07 lakh beneficiaries received the first dose of the vaccine.
Also, the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said they tested 6,99,185 samples on Wednesday, and the total number of tests in India currently stand at 20,40,23,840.
