Prolific TIOL Guest columnist S Sivakumar passes away

By TIOL News Service

NEW DELHI, FEB 12, 2021: A CA and a law graduate, Sivakumar penned almost three hundred articles for TIOL

Covid snatched him away from us yesterday night.

His association with TIOL began on a sunny Monday morning in September 2007 when we hosted his first article in our Guest column titled - Service Tax refund to software exporters - 'Goods' better than 'services'!

Passion about the subject made him pen articles one after another and on some occasions we had to request him to take a pause so as to allow us to carry articles of other contributors in our column(s).

In fact, our ST se GST tak column was almost always full to the brim with his articles on topical subjects which our readers devoured with much relish.

We never had to request him to share an article on any specific issue. He had his ears close to the ground and before an issue started gathering momentum, his article was already in our mail box analysing threadbare the claims made by the department and how hollow or full of vigour they were!

In his articles, he never failed to mention that he was a "student" of law and eager to learn the legal nuances and niceties from those around him.

He had taken a fascination for the words, Be that as it may… and almost all his articles never missed out on those.

The last article from his side adorned our Guest column on 11th January 2021 and we were keenly awaiting his analysis post the Union budget but God had other plans…

We at TIOL and all his readers would miss him very much.

Om Shanti.
