NEW DELHI, FEB 12, 2021: INDIA reported 9,309 new confirmed COVID-19 cases, 15,858 recoveries and 87 fatalities over the last 24 hours, said the Ministry of Health on Friday. The national tally stands at 1,08,80,603 confirmed cases while the cumulative death toll is 1,55,447.

The daily cases were less than 10,000 for the third time in February, while the new fatalities remained below 100 for the sixth time. Only Maharashtra reported over 1,000 cases in the past 24 hours, while four States and Union Territories (UTs) have not reported any new cases in the past day.

The country's total active cases also saw a sharp decline, with a sip of 6,636 infections as they fell to 1,35,926.

"The total positive cases of the country now comprise only 1.25 per cent of the total cases. The day-on-day change of active cases in the last few weeks shows a consistent decline," said the ministry.

The death rate is at 1.43 per cent of the national tally, while the recovery rate continues to be high, at 97.32 per cent.

According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 7,65,944 samples were tested for COVID-19 in the past day and they have tested 20,47,89,784 samples so far.
