India records 12,143 new COVID-19 cases, no deaths in 17 States

NEW DELHI, FEB 13, 2021: INDIA'S tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases rose to 1,08,92,746 with 12,143 daily new cases, while recoveries rose to 1,06,00,625 with 11,395 patients getting discharged in the past 24 hours, said the Health Ministry on Saturday.
Over 86 per cent of the new cases were reported from six States, with Kerala (5,397) and Maharashtra (3,670) leading by a large margin.
The death count increased to 1,55,550 with 103 daily new fatalities, said the ministry. There are 17 States and Union Territories (UTs) who have not reported any new coronavirus deaths.
India's active caseload stood at 1,36,571, consisting of just 1.25 per cent of the total positive cases.
Meanwhile, the government started administering the second dose of the COVID vaccine to those who took the first shot on Day 1, January 16, of the nationwide inoculation drive. Over 79 lakh healthcare and frontline workers have received the vaccination as on February 13, said the ministry.
Out of these, there are 59,09,136 healthcare workers and 20,58,511 frontline workers.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said they had tested 20,55,33,398 samples for the virus up to February 12, with over 7.43 lakh tested on the day itself.
