Agro-processing cluster projects worth Rs 60 Crore sanctioned in Assam

GUWAHATI, FEB 17, 2021: MINISTER of State for Food Processing Industries Mr RameswarTeli on Tuesday said 15 food processing units were operational in Assam with agro-processing cluster projects worth about Rs. 60 crore more sanctioned.
Attending the stakeholders meet on food processing organised by the Ministry of Food Processing Industries in partnership with the Assam government, Mr Teli highlighted that the ministry has been allocating 10 per cent of its budget for implementation of its schemes and programs in the northeasternregion.
"As of today, 15 food processing units are in operation in Assam with a project cost of around Rs. 200 crore. Agro-Processing Clusters (APC) Projects worth about Rs. 60 crore has been sanctioned in Assam and APC projectsof the same monetary value are in the pipeline to be sanctioned ," he said.
He added that under the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Sampada Yojana (PMKSY), a flagship scheme of the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, special benefits are available to the northeast States, such as higher rate of subsidy and other relaxations to attract investors. There are 28 projects sanctioned in Assam under the PMKSY, out of which seven are operational.
