PM speaks with Oman Sultan, discusses strategy

By TIOL News Service

NEW DELHI, FEB 18, 2021: PRIME Minister Mr Narendra Modi on Wednesday spoke with Oman Sultan Mr Haitham Bin Tarik over the phone and discussed the bilateral cooperation in all areas.

The Prime Minister's Office (PMO) said the Omani Sultan expressed his appreciation for the COVID-19 vaccines sent by India to Muscat. India had sent one lakh COVID vaccine doses to Oman in the beginning of February.

The leaders expressed satisfaction about the growing India-Oman cooperation in all areas including defence, health, trade and investment, said the PMO.

"Spoke to HM Sultan Haitham bin Tarik of Oman. We discussed our strategic partnership, and our close cooperation during COVID-19. Conveyed my best wishes for one year of HM the Sultan's reign and his ‘Vision 2040' for Oman," Mr Modi said on Twitter.

Both leaders appreciated the role of the Indian diaspora in enhancing the economic and cultural ties between the two strategic partners.

They agreed to maintain their close cooperation in the joint fight against the pandemic, said the PMO.
