India records 12,881 new COVID-19 cases, vaccine coverage crosses 94Lac

NEW DELHI, FEB 18, 2021: INDIA'S cumulative COVID-19 vaccine coverage crossed 94 lakhs as the country recorded 12,881 daily cases, 101 fatalities and 11,987 recoveries, said the Health Ministry on Thursday.
"India is the third topmost country globally with the highest cumulative vaccination numbers, after the US and UK," said the ministry, noting that the country has administered 94,22,228 first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
The country's cumulative figures stands at 1,09,50,201 confirmed cases, 1,06,56,845 recoveries, and 1,56,014 deaths.
Kerala and Maharashtra alone account for 75 per cent of the new cases, 72 per cent of daily recovered cases and 55 per cent of the overnight fatalities, noted the ministry.
There are currently 1,37,342 active cases in the country, comprising just 1.25 per cent of the total positive cases.
As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), over 20.87 crore samples have been tested for COVID-19, with 7.26 lakh tested in the past day.
