India's daily COVID-19 cases climb to 13,993

NEW DELHI, FEB 20, 2021: INDIA'S daily COVID-19 cases almost hit the 14,000-mark, the highest in February, as the Ministry of Health reported 13,993 new cases on Saturday, with Maharashtra alone reporting 6,112 cases.
There were 10,307 people who recovered and were discharged while 101 deaths were reported in the past day.
The tally in the country reached 1,09,77,387 confirmed cases with 1,06,78,048 recoveries and 1,56,212 fatalities.
The national recovery rated stands at 97.27 per cent and the case fatality rate is at 1.42 per cent.
Active cases remained below the 1.5-lakh mark with 3,585 additions to the count. There are 1,43,127 active cases of the coronavirus infection in the country which comprises 1.27 per cent of the total caseload.
The Health Ministry said they have administered 1,07,15,204 first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine to healthcare and frontline workers.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) said they conducted tests on 7,86,618 samples in the past day and have cumulatively tested over 21 crore samples for the coronavirus so far.
