NEW DELHI, FEB 20, 2021: PRIME Minister Mr Narendra Modi will visit Dhemaji in Assam and Hooghly in West Bengal on February 22, inaugurating several oil and gas, and railways projects.

He will visit Assam during the day, where he will dedicate three projects of the Petroleum Ministry worth over Rs. 3,000 crore to the nation, along with laying the foundation stones for an engineering college in Dhemaji and another at Sualkuchi, near Guwahati.

"These projects will usher in an era of energy security and prosperity, and open bright avenues of opportunity for local youth," said an official statement from the Prime Minister's Office (PMO).

The Prime Minister will flag-off the Rs. 2,600 crore INDMAX unit at Indian Oil's Bongaigaon Refinery. It will produce a higher Liquified Petroleum Gas (LPG) and high-Octane gasoline yield from heavy feedstocks.

He will also inaugurate the Rs. 490-crore secondary tank farm with dehydration facility of Oil India in Madhuban, Dibrugarh and a gas compressor station in Makum, Tinsukia, which will be built for Rs. 132 crore.

In West Bengal, Mr Modi will flag off the first service on the extension of the Metro Railway from Noapara to Dakshineswar. The 4.1-km stretch has been fully paid for by the Central government at a cost of Rs. 464 crore. It will ease access to the Kali Temples at Kalighat and Dakshineswar for lakhs of tourists and devotees, said the PMO.

He will also inaugurate the third line between Kalaikunda and Jhargram over a 30-km stretch of South Eastern Railway, which was sanctioned with an estimated cost of Rs. 1,312 crore. It will help ensure seamless movement of passenger and freight trains on the Howrah-Mumbai Trunk route.

Mr Modi will also be dedicating to the nation the doubling of the Azimganj-Khargraghat section of the Eastern Railway, the fourth line between Dankuni and Baruipara and the third line between Rasulpur and Magra.

The rail projects will ensure better operational fluidity, less journey time and enhanced safety of train operations, as well as boost the overall economic growth of the region, the PMO said.

The Prime Minister is also expected to pay a one-day visit to Puducherry and address a public meeting there on February 25, the BJP's Puducherry unit said.
