India's COVID-19 tally crosses 1.1Cr, active cases rise past 1.5Lac

NEW DELHI, FEB 22, 2021: INDIA'S daily COVID-19 cases surged by 14,199 while 9,695 patients have been recovered and discharged and 83 succumbed to their illness, the Ministry of Health said on Monday.
With a net increase of 4,421, the country's active cases hit 1,50,055 and, having surged consecutively in the past five days after falling for the past month.
India's tally stands at 1,10,05,850 confirmed cases with 1,56,385 deaths and 1,06,99,410 recovered.
The national recovery now stands at 97.22 per cent while the death rate is 1.42 per cent. Active cases comprise 1.36 per cent of the total cases.
India has also checked over 21.15 crore samples for COVID-19, with 6,20,216 tests being conducted in the past 24 hours.

As on February 22, the country has also vaccinated 1,11,16,854 healthcare and frontline workers, with 9.67 lakh people receiving their second doses.
The Centre on Sunday wrote to Kerala, Maharashtra, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir, advising them to step up testing as they recorded spikes on daily and active cases.
