India reports 13,742 new COVID-19 cases, 104 deaths

NEW DELHI, FEB 24, 2021: INDIA reported 13,742 new daily COVID-19 infections, 104 deaths and 14,037 recoveries in the past 24 hours, said the Health Ministry on Wednesday.
The tally of confirmed COVID-19 cases surged to 1,10,30,176 while recoveries rose 1,07,26,702 and deaths to 1,56,567.
Maharashtra continued to report the highest daily cases at 6,218, followed by Kerala with 4,034. The two States also account for 62.5 per cent of the daily fatalities with Maharashtra alone reporting 51 casualties, while Kerala reported 14.
The national COVID-19 recovery rate is 97.25 per cent and the case fatality rate stands at 1.42 per cent.
As per the ministry data, there are 1,46,907 active cases which comprise 1.33 per cent of the total caseload.
More than 1,21,65,598 doses of the COVID-19 vaccines have been administered so far, with over 64.9 lakh healthcare workers and 42.68 lakh frontline workers being immunised.
The Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) informed that 8,05,844 samples were tested on Tuesday, with the cumulative tests standing at 21,30,36,275.
