BRICS prepare for release of Joint Statistical Publication 2021

NEW DELHI, FEB 25, 2021: THE BRICS countries held a technical group meeting of their respective National Statistical Offices (NSO) virtually on Wednesday to focus on the draft Joint Statistical Publication (JSP) to be released later this year.
NSO officers of Brazil, Russia, India, China, South Africa (BRICS) met under the aegis of India's Ministry of Statistics and Programme Implementation (MoSPI), since the country is the 2021 chair of BRICS.
The draft JSP and its snapshot, which will be released in August during the ‘Meeting of Heads of NSOs,' were discussed on Wednesday. Participants spoke about the data to be included in the various domains of the publication such as economy, employment, industry, energy, environment, agriculture, finance and tourism, among others.
The meeting also discussed the draft proposals by Russia on cooperation between BRICS countries, vision document on cooperation and statistical system development of their respective NSOs, and the proposal regarding New Development Bank for project funding.
