Digital India will unite urban India with rural Bharat: Sanjay Dhotre

NEW DELHI, MAR 04, 2021: THE government has been striving to fulfil the vision of 'Digital India' and bridge the divide between urban and rural India, foster financial inclusion and provide last-mile connectivity, said Mr Sanjay Dhotre, Minister of State for Communication, Electronics and Information Technology (IT).
Speaking at the India Telecom 2021, organised by the Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC), he further said that Indian manufacturers are making significant strides in exports of IT and telecom products with the government's support.
"The government has announced the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) schemes for various sectors, including telecom sector, to become a part of the global supply chain," Mr Dhotre said, adding that the industry should work together to take advantage as Indian IT and telecom products are of "world-class quality" and are globally competitive in technology and price.
The minister said that the government has been striving to fulfil the Prime Minister's vision of a digitally united India.
"Digital India will bridge the digital divide in the country by uniting urban India with rural Bharat, foster financial inclusion by making critical services available to everyone remotely, and provide connectivity to the last mile," he added.
The India Telecom 2021 is an international business expo being held virtually on March 3-4 under the Market Access Initiative Scheme (MAI) of the Department of Commerce with support of Department of Telecommunications and Ministry of External Affairs.
The event is being attended by potential buyers from countries across the globe, with more that 40 companies showcasing their products and solutions. Over 1,000 delegates, of which more than 200 are foreign delegates, are attending the expo.
