NEW DELHI, MAY 01, 2021: MORE than 2.45 crore beneficiaries over the age of 18 have registered themselves on the Co-WIN digital platform ahead of the third phase of the COVID-19 vaccination drive that is set to start on May 1, the Health Ministry said on Friday.
While more than 1.37 crore signed up on April 28, another 1.04 crore had registered by end of April 29, said the ministry even as several States deferred the roll out of the vaccination drive due to a vaccine shortage.
Several State governments, including BJP-ruled Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and Goa have said they will not be able to start the vaccination drive for all adults from May 1. Maharashtra, Delhi and Gujarat too have said they will start phase 3 at a later date in May when they get access to a substantial number of doses.
Centre said they had supplied more than 16.33 crore vaccine doses to States and Union Territories (UTs) free of cost, and the cumulative number of doses administered in India, including wastage, is 15.33 crore.
“More than 1 crore Covid vaccine doses (1,00,28,527) are still available with the States/UTs to be administered,” said the ministry, adding that nearly 20 lakh doses will also be supplied within the next three days.
