Govt says over 25.87 cr Covid vaccine doses provided to States so far

NEW DELHI, JUN 12, 2021: AS part of the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination drive, over 25.87 crore vaccine doses have been provided to the States and Union Territories (UTs) so far through the Centre and direct State procurement category, the Health Ministry said on Saturday.
Of the 25,87,41,810 vaccine doses, as many as 24,76,58,855 doses have been consumed, including wastage. As of Saturday, vaccines have been administered to as many as 24,96,00,304 people in India.
"More than 1,12,41,187 Covid vaccine doses are still available with the States and UTs to be administered," said the ministry.
The Centre has been supporting the States and UTs by providing them free Covid vaccines and facilitating direct procurement from manufacturers. Every month, 50 per cent of the total Central Drugs Laboratory (CDL) cleared vaccine doses of any manufacturer will be procured by the government and they make these doses available to the States free of cost.
Furthermore, more than 10,81,300 vaccine doses are in the pipeline and will be received by the States and UTs within the next three days.
