C-DAC inaugurates Model EV Charging Station and Hardware Emulation Facility

By TIOL News Service

NEW DELHI, AUG 26, 2024: THE Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), S. Krishnan inaugurated the Model Indigenous Electric Vehicle Charging Station at C-DAC Thiruvananthapuram, Technopark Campus. This center will have various AC and DC fast chargers for vehicles ranging from 2W to Heavy vehicles and play a crucial role in catalyzing an ecosystem for the promotion of the charging infrastructure with indigenous EV chargers research, development, commercialization and manufacturing through industries.

Apart from this the Secretary, MeitY also inaugurated the Hardware Emulation Facility at C-DAC, Thiruvananthapuram for the Start-ups under the C2S programme and DLI Scheme of MeitY today. This center will have development, testing, and validation of hardware designs, for VLSI and SoC technologies. This facility provides resources for emulating hardware designs on reconfigurable platforms like FPGAs.

Addressing the gathering, S. Krishnan said "creating intellectual property in India for use in industrial application is very important for making sure that India stays ahead. Govt has target to introduce Electric Vehicle and  Renewable solution in the country. Developing technologies and solutions  in these areas will play a very important role to indigenize and make India self sustainable"

Along with these inaugurations, other announcements in the presence of the Secretary, MeitY, made for technology transfers, MoUs/MoAs and product launch with the representatives of industries during the event today at C-DAC, Thiruvananthapuram. The details are as follows:

1. Transfer of technology of the High voltage high-frequency Planar magnetics technology, developed by C-DAC (T) and IISc, Bangalore, to M/s Reliamotive Labs, Bangalore: It is capable of designing and testing any planar inductor with a desired rating for any application involving low, medium, or high voltage up to 10kV and frequencies as high as 200 kHz. Design and test  of planar Transformers for  various applications ranging up to 10kV with frequencies up to 200 kHz.

2. MoU signed between C-DAC (T), and  M/s L&T Semiconductor Technologies Limited for the development of VEGA processor-based SoC's for various application.

3. MoA signed between C-DAC (T), C-DAC, Chennai and M/s Aheesa Digital Innovations Pvt. Ltd. for the development of network security solutions such as CDAC Rakshak and Darpan Virtual Network Solutions.  C-DAC RAKSHAK is built on the indigenous BOSS OS platform, includes a Network Forensics Portal application featuring indigenous AI algorithms and custom engines running on the C-DAC Cloud, designed to detect breaches and provide comprehensive support for cyber forensics. DARPAN Virtual Network Solution' is a product for the Network Softwarization for the SDN based edge platform supports the deployment of any software-based network functions like Routing, Switching, and Firewalling and it can be dynamically configured from the central orchestrator.

4. An  MoA signed between C-DAC (T) with Hykon India Ltd. and C-DAC (T) for the development and deployment of Vehicle to Grid (V2G, V2H & V2B) technologies. V2G is identified as the technology that sandwiches, Power and Transportation to provide Grid support in flattening the load curve, storage solutions for interconnected renewables, and sustainable electric drive transportation. The development of technology of vehicle to grid (V2G), vehicle to home (V2H) & vehicle to building (V2B) have been developed under NaMPET.

5.  MoA signed between C-DAC(T) and M/s JMV LPS for the development, deployment, and proliferation of the Smart Meter technologies for the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI):. CDAC, with the support of NaMPET, has also developed the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) technology, which represents the next evolution of smart metering technology. It goes beyond the basic functionalities of traditional smart meters to offer a more sophisticated and interconnected solution.

6. Product Launch of the Hybrid Power Conditioning Systems for Microgrids technologies by Hykon India Ltd.. Kochi developed with C-DAC (T). The Hybrid power Conditioning System for resilient industrial Microgrids has been developed under the NaMPET programme. The resiliency has been achieved by ensuring redundancy and fault tolerance through design and control. Robust hardware and advanced cooling systems for power converters are also addressed in the design. The control system ensures grid synchronization and stability. Resources for implementing diagnostics are also provided in the digital control platform.

The inauguration, ToT, MoU/MoA were done at CDAC Thiruvanthpuram in the presence of S Krishnan, Secretary, MeitY; S K Marwaha, Group Coordinator, MeitY; E Magesh, DG, C-DAC; Kalai Selvan, Director CDAC-T; Dr Om Krishan Singh, Scientist 'D', MeitY; Sandeep Kumar, CEO L&T Semiconductors; Sanjay Gupta, CDO & Global Head of Engineering L&T Semiconductors; Sridharan Mani Founder and Director, Aheesa Digital Innovations; Cristo George, MD, M/s Hykon Pvt Ltd;   Sadeep Sasidharan,Director, M/s Reliamotive Pvt Ltd.; Smt Meenakshi Singh, Director M/s JMV Pvt Ltd and  other industry partners.
