PM flags off Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025; Goyal urges first-time auto buyers to choose EVs

NEW DELHI, JAN 17, 2025: THE Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, today in front of a vibrant and enthusiastic audience, that included industry experts, representatives of the mobility ecosystem, partnering associations, representatives of foreign embassies and missions, government officials, policymakers, and members of the press and media. Prime Minster recalled the contribution of legends Ratan Tata and Osamu Suzuki, saying that their legacy will inspire the mobility sector.

Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 has become the second largest automotive expo in the world. This was stated by Union Minister of Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal at the inauguration of Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 today in New Delhi. The expo has brought the value chain of the mobility ecosystem - automobiles to auto-related components under a single umbrella, he said. He also noted that by next year this expo will become the biggest auto show in the world and will also emerge as the one stop destination for the automobile sector for the world. 

Goyal welcomed global leaders, innovators, and policymakers, applauding their efforts in making the Expo a dynamic platform for collaboration and innovation. The Expo serves as a call to action for global partnerships, inviting international investors to tap into India's growing consumer base and business-friendly ecosystem. Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 promises to be a landmark event, aiming to unite the entire mobility value chain under one umbrella. The expo will be held from 17-22 January 2025 across three iconic venues – Bharat Mandapam, New Delhi, Yashobhoomi, Dwarka and India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida.

Speaking on the Prime Minister's vision in developing leading Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions (MICE) destinations in India, Goyal highlighted that the country is benefitting from the rapid development of this infrastructures. Bharat Mobility that took place only in Bharat Mandapam last year is being held at three places including Yashobhoomi and India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida spanning over 2 lakh sq metre this year. "The entire mobility industry, whole government and whole of the nation has come together for this expo," he said.

Goyal pointed out that Bharat Mobility 2025 presents the India story to the world and that it will augment investments and boost trade for the country. Auto Industry has emerged as a symbol for Atmanirbhar Bharat and Make in India and Startups are also participating in this event, the Minister noted. Highlighting that the mobility sector will play a significant role in achieving Viksit Bharat by 2047, Goyal pointed out that collaborations struck at the expo  will give a boost to the economy and enhance Ease of Living for the people.

The Minister informed that India has become the largest manufacturer of three-wheelers and tractors in the world and also holds the top spot as a two-wheel market in the world. Goyal remarked that innovation and sustainability has become the focus of the mobility sector and India's share in the mobility global supply chains is also increasing. India's mobility sector is cost-competitive and is also focussing on product quality. 

The Minister emphasised that electric vehicles are shaping the mobility sector and India holds great advantage in this area. He noted that India is witnessing a lot of first-time automobile buyers and nudging them towards buying electric vehicles will hugely benefit the entire ecosystem leading to reduction in pollution levels and stemming inflow of foreign exchange. The Minister also highlighted that the Government is also focussing on improving battery technology and better vehicle designs in the market.

The Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 is an industry led and government supported initiative, and is being coordinated by Engineering Export Promotion Council India (EEPC India) with the joint support of various industry bodies and partner organizations– SIAM, ACMA, IESA, ATMA, ISA, NASSCOM, ICEMA, AICMA, MRAI, ITPO, Invest India, IBEF, CII, Yashobhoomi and IEML.
