Sub: Seminar on "Effective Representation before ITAT" at NADT - 17th to 18th of June, 2014 - Nominations reg.

2. The National Academy of Direct Taxes (NADT), Nagpur is organizing a two day Seminar on "Effective Representation before ITAT" on 17th and 18th of June, 2014. The programme is meant for the officers of the rank of JCIT to CIT.

3. The objective of the programme is to (i) enhance competence and capacity building of the officers in this significant area and also to (ii) attain maximal levels of efficiency and effectiveness while they appear on behalf of the Department in judicial forums.

4. The Seminar will try to address issues relating to legislative intent and tax jurisprudence, construction and interpretation of statues, law of evidence, advocacy skills, case studies and their import, judicial information system within and outside the department, working of the ITAT and Courts and other ancillary aspects.

5. In this connnection, I would request you to kindly nominate at least two to three officers of the rank of CsIT/Addl.CsIT/JCsIT who are likely to be posted as Departmental Representatives (DR) at ITAT in your region. The nominations for the noted programme may kindly be sent positively by 10th of June, 2014.

6. The nominated officers may kindly be advised to send their tour programme by email at adprnadt@gmail.com by 12th of June, 2014 so as to enable us to make arrangements for accommodation and transport.
