NEW DELHI, OCT 28, 2017: IN her weekly communication letter to the field officers the CBEC Chairperson has clarified that the late fee paid by taxpayers on GSTR-3B will be credited to their electronic cash ledger and this may be circulated among the assessees to avoid confusion.

To achieve the goal of paperless transactions and to facilitate trade in reducing cost and time, the CBEC has launched e-SANCHIT facility for uploading the supporting import or export documents in ICEGATE on a pilot basis at Chennai port and Delhi Air Cargo on October 20, 2017. This is to be extended to all traders throughout India to reduce their interaction with the Department.

She has also stated that the Express Cargo Clearing System, (ECCS) project was successfully rolled out in Delhi and Bengaluru initially for non-dutiable shipments incorporating the GST changes for a limited number of flights. ECCS for full load, 100% of flights, has been achieved on October 20, 2017 at Bengaluru and on October 25, 2017 at Delhi. Similar automation at Chennai and Kolkata Courier Terminals are under process.

She has also informed the officers that the DPC meeting for regular promotion to the post of Commissioner (SAG) for the vacancy year 2008-2009 has been held in UPSC this week.
